Situated within 2 minutes walking distance from the Stronsay ferry terminal, the café and hostel was originally the fish market during the herring boom in the 1800's.
In 1995 the building was converted into a café, hostel and museum and interpretation centre.
There have since been various stages of development and refurbishment. In 2014 work was started on the newest stage of refurbishment which was completed in 2015.
The building now provides a modern, bright, comfortable, warm and energy efficient environment. It is ideally situated within the village being just across the road from the local hotel and pub.
The café and hostel is run by Richard and Evelyn who took over the lease in May 2016.
Visit us in the café for a bite to eat and a chat or come and stay in the hostel while you visit Stronsay. We are open seven days a week, nearly all year round, and offer an ideal base from where to explore the island.
